BootManage Administrator ::: Skill Levels

The rating system is broken down into five categories. The lower the number, the easier the task (1 = easy, 5 = hard). The general knowlegde section is required for all levels.

General Knowledge

It is expected that everybody interested in using the BootManage Administrator have the necessary skills to install a client in a TCP/IP based network running BOOTP, DHCP, TFTP and PXE. There is also the requirement to be able to work with a PC that has a Microsoft Windows (NT 4, 2000, 2003, XP) operating system installed, and the knowledge how to install a Windows application. The use of an FTP client, text editor, Linux, SQL or other DB system may be required. It is also necessary to have access to the Windows operating system installation CD-ROM.

Skill Level 1

This skill level requires that the General Knowledge requirements be met and should be an easy and fast task to perform. It also includes the installation and basic configuration of the BootManage Administrator.

Skill Level 2

This skill level requires that Skill level 1 be met and should be a simple task to perform. In addition to the skill level 1 requirements you should also have a beginner to intermediate understanding of DOS batch programming and the usage of the BootManage Administrator DOS tools, the usage of the BootManage Administrator GUI and how to perform customized installations. Some knowledge about how to configure and find easy network problems in a TCP/IP based network, including bridges, switches and routers may be required as well.

Skill Level 3

This skill level requires that Skill level 2 be met and is considered an easy to difficult task to perform such as how to use the internal tools of the BootManage Administrator, add functionality while customizing the BootManage Administrator to fit special needs. In addition to the skill level 2 requirements you should also have at least an intermediate understanding of the syntax of the configuration files of the Bootmanage Administrator and the operating systems (e.g. function parameter syntax and variable usage).

Skill Level 4

This skill level requires that Skill level 3 be met and is considered a difficult to hard task to perform. In addition to the skill level 3 requirements you should also have up to an advanced understanding of network problems that are not part of the BootManage Administrator itself but may affect its functionality. In addition to the skill level 3 requirements you should also have good to excellent understanding of the syntax of the configuration files of the Bootmanage Administrator and the operating systems (e.g. function parameter syntax and variable usage).

Skill Level 5

This skill level requires that Skill level 4 be met and is considered a difficult to hard task to perform. In addition to the skill level 4 requirements you should also have an advanced understanding of the ActiveX Control Interface of the BootManage Administrator. This level allows to seemlessly integrate the BootManage Administrator functionality into other application programs and to perform schema extensions.
