bootix ::: Thin Client

Thin Client

The term "Thin Cient" denotes a machine that is used as a client in a terminal server environment. These machines often do not boot their operating system from local mass storage, but instead from a network server. For this, a thin client must be equipped with a network boot code, such as the the TCP/IP BOOT-PROM or PXE PROM code.

This provides the advantage that no operating system and application management is required on the client side. Also, as the actual computing takes place on the terminal server, the client systems can be implemented using cheap, low-performance hardware.

The bootix BootManage Administrator is the bootix boot management solution for thin clients.
